How To Join
The Casper Children’s Chorale is a select chorus of boys and girls from Natrona County. The Chorale has appeared on National Music Conventions, been consistent winners of Heritage Music Festivals, and is the proud recipient of the Wyoming Governor’s Arts Award. The Chorale, limited to eighty singers in 4th -8th grades, and Bel Canto, fifty children in grades 2nd-5th, offers positive and challenging choral music experiences for young singers with unchanged voices. Chorale has a reputation as a highly disciplined performing group, but its main promotion is the knowledge and love of singing.
With a limited number of performances, the Chorale strives to enhance, not replace, individual school choirs. Each September through May season includes a Fall Concert Performance, Holiday Concert, Winter Church Tour, School Tour, the annual Mother’s Day Concert, and Spring Tour. Children’s Chorale has toured throughout Wyoming and across our nation, from Los Angeles to New York, from Chicago to Vancouver, B.C. Spring of 2017 will be a CCC Festival Trip, with exact travel plans yet to be revealed.
Chorale singers rehearse each Tuesday (4:00-5:30) and one additional 5:00-6:30 p.m. Thursday per month. The Chorale is a non-profit group administered by a parent Board of Directors with funding from donations and singer’s $35 monthly tuition. Scholarships and fund-raising activities are available to help with tuition and additional trip costs. The conductor of the Children’s Chorale is nationally acclaimed choral musician Marcia Patton, assisted by four talented and certified vocal music teachers each rehearsal.
Bel Canto is the primer choir for the Chorale. These younger singers, led by choral music educator Terry Schreckengost, meet weekly for one hour, (Tuesdays 4:15-5:15 p.m.), and sing two major concerts. They do not travel. Tuition is $70 per semester.
New member screenings were May 17th-24th at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church, 701 S. Wolcott, by clicking the link above. If you have problems, please text 307-259-7583 or e-mail email@example.com to schedule a time to sing “AMERICA” (My Country ‘tis of Thee…) in the key of F. Auditions will be done in groups of 6, but you will have some individual opportunities to demonstrate pitch, rhythm, and interest. It will be like a mini-music class, and will be FUN! Results were mailed June 5th. Board Members attend auditions to answer any questions about the Chorale. Visit our website www.casperchildrenschorale.com, our Facebook page, or YouTube!
Bring a self-addressed, stamped, 9×4” envelope to your audition.
Auditions are held at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church, 701 S. Wolcott. Enter from the church parking lot, through the red kitchen door, into the Parish Hall area. A Board Member will be there to answer any questions. Bring a self-addressed 4″ x 9.5″ self-addressed and stamped envelope. A parent should fill out all the paperwork, as well as address the envelope so that all information is correct. Please accompany your child to the audition.
Make sure that your child can sing the first verse of “My Country, ‘tis of Thee” (America) in the key of F. The words will be there, but children do better if they really KNOW the song. Including the actual twenty minute audition, please plan on a total of thirty minutes. Arrive 10 minutes early so that you can complete the paperwork and your child can become comfortable in the physical space. The screening itself is in a group with 3-5 other singers, and is designed to be interactive and enjoyable, incorporating singing, rhythm, and listening activities. Do your best to keep your child calm and positive!
Current 1st through 4th graders are considered for Bel Canto. Tuition for singers in Bel Canto is $70 per semester, due the 5th rehearsal of each semester.
Current 3rd through 7th graders are considered for Children’s Chorale. For Children’s Chorale, semester fees are $150, or $300 annually. Tuition can also be paid monthly in 9 installments of $35 each, due on the first Tuesday rehearsal of each month.
Tuition scholarships are available for Children’s Chorale. If your child wants to sing, please do not let cost hold them back. We have donors who are interested in supporting young musicians. However, there are no scholarships for transportation to and from rehearsals. Chorale is a fantastic musical and life-changing experience, but parents must commit to transporting children to rehearsals each Tuesday afternoon, 4:00-5:30.
Music is an investment for a lifetime!
